Niagara Falls
I hate planning trips! As much as I love to spend time outside of Boston, I do find preparing for road trips, vacations, weekend getaways very annoying. Good thing I have my hubby to do all that for both of us haha. Two weeks ago, my family and I made a decision to go see Niagara Falls. After 10 years of living in America, this was the first time we actually got to experience the beauty of these waterfalls.
Planning this trip was not fun at all, which is why I wanted to write this post for those of you who are planning on visiting that place in your future. As we were looking for a hotel to stay in that weekend, we realized how expensive everything was. I mean to spend a night at a decent hotel would have cost us $300+. That is just for one night! Crazy, right? Our drive from Western Massachusetts to Niagara Falls was six hours, which is why there was no way we would travel back home that day. We ended up getting a hotel outside of Niagara Falls because it was much much cheaper. So, this is my #1 tip for everyone: do not get a hotel right in that city. It is a touristy place, and that is exactly the reason for high prices for everything. If you don't mind driving a bit to save money, then do research on the hotels outside of Niagara Falls.
If you don't know yet, you can watch the falls from the American side, or from the Canadian side. After finally reaching our destination, we discovered that we were not able to see the whole waterfall from our american side. We could only see one half of it, which was amazing anyway. If you want to see the whole half circle of this beauty, you would have to travel to Canada in order to do so. Next time we go there, we will definitely go to Canada. By the way, don't get discouraged if you can't travel to Canada to see the whole thing. You will enjoy the American view just as much!
There were a couple cliche tours that you could go on to while being there. You could go on a huge boat, which takes you very closely to the waterfall. You can find all the information about this tour here. It is definitely a very courageous thing to do haha. Another attraction there is called Cave of the Winds, which takes you down the stairs and walkways right in the mist of the waterfall. Yet another courageous thing to do there. :) Here is the info about these tours.
After we took enough selfies at the waterfall, we took a walk around the city. It is such a lively place filled with people from so many different places of the world. I am so happy I got to finally take a trip there. It was an unforgettable experience!
I hope you found this post helpful! Have you ever been to Niagara Falls? What was your experience like? Or are you planning to go there in the future? Let me know in the comments. :)
